Q: Why do I need to return for a recheck after the surgery?

A: Our patients’ recovery and well-being are as important to us as they are to you, so we will usually schedule a recheck between 2-12 weeks. A recheck will allow us to assess a patient’s progress and healing. Our surgeons will re-examine the patient and in some cases repeat radiographs. Some surgical procedures do not require additional radiographs.

Q: What do I do if my pet shows signs of reinjury months after the surgery and the pet was cleared to return to normal activity.

A: If your pet has been seen at Sirius within the previous 6 months and you become concerned about your pet’s surgical procedure please call the office to schedule a recheck. If Sirius has not seen your pet in the previous 6 months, please contact your family veterinarian as they can also help address your new concerns.

Q: My pet is having surgery on Thursday and your office is closed over the weekend but I have a concern about my pet. What should I do?

A: Our team does monitor emails and text messages over the weekend for urgent post-operative concerns and will respond as soon as we are able. However, because out hospital is closed, responses may take several hours. If your concern is time-sensitive or you believe your pet needs immediate medical attention, please do not wait for a response from our team, contact an emergency veterinary clinic for prompt evaluation.
